ABOUT GABRIEL.

Hello!
My name is Jaime Portillo, but Jimmy is just fine. What I have up are pages from my graphic novel, GABRIEL (AVAILABLE NOW AT INDYPLANET.COM. PLEASE GO THERE AND BUY IT). It is a vampire tale based on actual events from Juarez, Mexico. It consists of 118, black and white pages, and it took me a little over a year to finish it. I had the idea to write this story as a novel around 1998, and I didn't start writing until 2002. I then decided to write this as a graphic novel in December, 2006. It was just very hard for me to write a novel, and I've always been a comic book fan.

My book was lucky enough to be given a prestigious grant from the Xeric Foundation, founded by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator, Peter A. Laird. (I have the ad in my gallery, or visit XericFoundation.org for verification) If you want to see a bit more, go to GABRIEL'S official website: MYSPACE.COM/GABRIELGRAPHICNOVEL. It has two exclusive trailers that might get your interest. One trailer is a graphic novel format that was created by my brother, ROBTHECREEP, and the second trailer is a live trailer. Yes. I said a live trailer. My music is used for these trailers by the way. Hope you all like it.

I thank everyone who helped me in my book. But extra thanks goes out to Maribel and ROBTHECREEP. I told Rob what I wanted to do, and he offered his help and believed I could do it. And Maribel, well, she supported my decision to quit my job as a security officer at the U.S. State Department so I could work on my book. She really believed in me. If it weren't for her support, this book would not have happened. I thank my nephew Michael, too. He helped out with a few scenes in the book, and he helped me out with the live trailer. Thanks everyone.

On December 07, I was invited by Justin Carmona to join Project4Studios, a group of comic book writers and artists from El Paso, Texas. I accepted the invitation and have written an 7 page short story titled, GABRIEL:VICTIM. They are bonus pages to GABRIEL. It will be released in a future Project4 anthology titled Fusion X, and I'll keep you posted when it does. Until then, please visit Project4Studios here on deviantArt and check out the members. They are a bunch of great writers, artists, but most importantly, great people. Check out some of their work on my favourites.

My friend Ray Ramos wrote a new comic called Hell's Pass. Check him out at Orpheusoul. It looks pretty good. Plus, don't forget to check out another creation of his, "El Valiente." His Hell's Pass is on my favourites.

Just to let you all know, I do have other ideas for comic books, but my main focus this year will be promoting my graphic novel. To me, this is even harder than writing the book itself. Thank you for looking over my stuff. If you have any questions, comments, or complaints, please feel free to write. NOW GO BUY MY GRAPHIC NOVEL, GABRIEL. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, brother! I'm glad you all supported me. It really meant a lot to me. I was surprised at the turnout. I didn't think that many people would pick up my graphic novel. Especially since it wasn't even a comic book event. And yeah, I can't wait for Free Comic Book Day. I just hope the stormtroopers don't ask us for our I.D.'s. I dont feel like using my Jedi mind tricks on them.
